The 2017 U6 Class was ushered out of the gates of Christian Brothers College with a send-off weekend characterised by 2 separate functions; Leavers’ Dinner and Leavers’ Dance. This was a befitting farewell to the turned young men who had first entered the gates of the college as starry-eyed Form Ones in January 2012.

In attendance at the Dinner were the young men, their parents, Chairman of the CBC Board of Governors, SDC, CBC Management and teachers. The Guest of Honour was Mr. Michael Sullivan, CBC Head boy 1998. It was an evening filled with good cheer as guests reminisced about their time at CBC and parents marvelled at how the 6 years seem to have flown by. Gilbert Tsikai the 2017 Deputy Head boy was the Master of Ceremonies and kept guests entertained throughout the evening.
The Headmaster Mr Muhomba in his address acknowledged that the boys were on the threshold of a new life, freedoms, responsibilities and challenges. He urged the young men to embrace the future reiterating his belief that their time at CBC had fully equipped them to handle and tackle whatever challenges that they may come across. He also urged them to keep in touch with the college because they will always be a part of CBC.
The Guest of Honour, Mr Michael Sullivan encouraged the young men to remain steadfast as they will encounter challenges in their faith, relationships i.e. with the self, other people and members of the opposite sex. He noted that, unlike school life that is ordered with certain choices already made for them, “Adult life is not as simple as follow the rules and you will be rewarded… Life is going to be full of surprises and I hope that most of them will good ones for you. I can tell you from personal experience, that you are going to get knocked down, maybe several times, but have the courage to get back up on your feet, dust yourself off and keep going.”
The outgoing Head boy, Jordan Edwards in his Vote of Thanks expressed gratitude to the Headmaster Mr. Muhomba and CBC members of staff for moulding them into young men who can confidently face the world.
To close the evening, the young men were finally inducted as CBC Old Boys as they received their Old Boys Badges CBC Board member Mrs Chantelle Edwards. The new crop of CBC Old Boys then sang the school song Viriliter Age!
