As the 2017 Hockey season has come and gone, the CBC Media Club junior interview team made up of Alex Kehayias, Ricky Basutu, Scott Lumsden and Dylan Androliakos (CBCMedia) invited Skulls Captain Panashe Nyamande (PN) to share his reflections on the team’s performance and achievements this season. Those who know Panashe would agree that he is one of the super sportsmen who fits well in any sporting discipline and where ever he goes he excels.

CBC Best Performing Part-time and Continuing Education Centre

CBC has been recognised as the Best Performing Part- time and Continuing Education Centre in Bulawayo Metropolitan Province. The school received the award and certificate from the Ministry of Education through the Better Schools Programme (BSPZ).

CBC mourns the death of Brother Dennis Turner

It is with great sadness that the College records the passing away last night of Brother D. K. Turner, aged 84. A past Headmaster of CBC (1983-1984) Brother Turner devoted his latter years to the College’s Night School for disadvantaged people, as well as supporting two peri-urban primary schools, at the Airport and Mthombothemba. Brother Turner touched the lives of many people and his selfless dedication to his calling was an inspiration to all who knew him. The members of the Board of Governors, the Headmaster, staff and all the CBC family offer their deepest sympathies to Brother Turner’s family at this time. May his dear soul rest in peace.

CBC gets lion’s share in Imbizo district awards

CBC scooped the lion’s share of the prizes, trophies and certificates at the Ministry of Education Imbizo District 2016 awards ceremony. The annual event meant to recognize schools and students for excelling in the various academic, sporting and cultural disciplines was held on Friday the 14th of July at the Academy of Music hall.

With mid-year exams now on full swing, every CBC boy is putting maximum effort in revision and exam preparation. Inside the hall (exam venue for forms 4 to upper 6th) are boards with names of old boys who got colours and honours for excelling in various academic, sporting and cultural disciplines. These names serve as testimony and inspiration to the current exam candidates that through hard work and determination, they can follow in the foot steps of the old boys.

Coomans and Pettican called up for Zimbabwe U17 Hockey

CBCs Kian Coomans “Khumalo” and Wade Pettican who were non travelling reserves have been called up to travel with the Zimbabwe U17 Hockey team.

Shivam Patel attended CBC from Form 1 to Form 3 (2010-2013). Afterwards his family relocated to the US where he continued and completed his secondary education. He then enrolled at the University of Florida where he is studying Aerospace Engineering and has just completed his second year. At the present moment Shivam is on his second internship with General Electric Aviation, a leading manufacturer of jet engines.

CBC old boy, Kieron Watson joins British Army

CBC Old Boy Kieron Watson

Congratulations to Kieron Watson who was awarded a Certificate of Achievement for successfully completing assessment at a British army assessment centre. Kieron will now commence training in basic soldiering skills and then go on to study to become a specialist at the Royal School of Signals.
While still at CBC Kieron was not only well known for dreaming big, but also for pursuing his dreams until they became a reality. In Form One he said he wanted to be a soccer referee, and he enrolled for training with ZIFA while he was also doing his academics. He worked hard and by the time he left CBC in Lower Sixth he had attained the level of Division One Referee.

​​CBC Eagles in an entertaining home win over Kyle College

On Saturday in their second compulsory of the term CBC First Team Soccer (Eagles) gifted their fans with an entertaining 3-2 home league win against Kyle College. Sean Matika opened the scoring with a well hit shot outside the penalty area. Kyle College responded with a similar effort moments later to put the score level at 1-1.

CBC Chess Team Wins the Falcon Chess Tournament

The CBC Chess team made a clean sweep at the Falcon Chess Tournament held last weekend. CBC came first in both the senior and junior categories.
